Lotta guys play golf. Pool is
"poor man's golf".
Though the expenses are only slightly less, the amount of exercise involved is no less grueling.

While living in southern Illinois I met
Rudolph (Minnesota Fats) Wanderone.
I used to watch him play when often he would come
into the student union at S.I.U. to show off.
Once when he was out partying at the 'Hilltop" tavern
west of Murphysboro when my band was playing, he,
always boastful, had to show me from his wallet,
a check from "Wide World of Sports" for $50,000
that he got the weekend before for one televised
straight pool match.
Fats was the greatest 'hustler' of all times.
Games he couldn't win with his cue, he won with his mouth.
He talked and bragged non-stop while in a match,
which some, including Willie Mosconi, found
disconcerting. Willie was probably the better player
but Fats beat him pretty often.

This shows our first year's honey label

Honeybees are dying or disappearing all across the country.  They are now referring to "Hive Collapse Disorder"  Soon they may non-existent.  Some crops will be in danger.  We beekeepers are trying to provide safe havens for a very necessary creature.  Wild honeybees have been disappearing even longer than domestic ones.  Pesticides? Cell phones?  There are quite a few theories.  Support your beekeepers.

    kevwhitegloves.jpg

In about 1984 I had my tenor replated. It looked so good I decided to never touch it again to keep it from corroding. I started wearing gloves, a habit which I maintained for about 5 or 6 years.

Susie Biddle had two other pairs of nylon gloves made for me, an electric blue pair with musical notes embroidered on the back and a black pair with a sparkly motif.

Wearing gloves made it very difficult to play the flute, however so I gave it up. I still have the black pair which I'll wear if it's cold and we're playing outdoors.
